Monday Militia!
Monday Militia has returned! The muse left me for awhile but has returned! I’m going to be changing it up a bit…every week will not be a mission per se but more of a thinking point for you. Some weeks it will be a longer post, some weeks it may be a bit more abbreviated. If you are interested in contributing to Monday Militia, please let me know. Please include a rough idea you have in your inquiry.
This week my computer crashed. And the short version is that I lost everything on the machine, despite having what I thought was a backup. I lost all of my personal photos, all of my business photos and documents, and every other thing that cannot be recovered. At first, I was extremely stressed out by the situation. With an upcoming craft show and tons of stuff to print out and catalog, I felt very sure that it was the end of the world.
Then I remembered this quote:
“Nothing is to be clung to as I, me, or mine.” -The Buddha
I think of especially this weekend, as a hurricane batters the east coast and the recent earthquake. Each day, we could stand to lose EVERYTHING material, including our lives which are also material since they do not last. Since I live in Florida, where hurricanes are a regular threat, I’m reminded that not only could I lose this stupid machine, that has given me so much angst the last several days, I could also lose my home, my loved ones, or my life, at any given point.
Of course, we should all take precautions against threats. However, there will always be something that we cannot foretell and cannot be safeguarded against….and what better reminder against adversity than rebirth and renewal?
If you lost everything, all is not lost. You can always start again.

so very very true… i did not know that buddha quote and am quite in love with it….
you are right, our days hold no promises… and what really matters cannot be bought (though it can be helpful and i now use mozy to save to the cloud)…
so glad to hear that monday militia is back…
